Chaps is a play on the British term for a boy or man. However, Chaps does not just appeal to males, with our Barbers catering to all genders. They will also go above and beyond to help anyone of any age along with making those with ASD and any other special needs, feel comfortable and included. Their values are to provide a high-end service in an all-inclusive, relaxed and fun environment.

The Chaps Crew

Proud owner and operator of Chaps Barbershop, Grant Freedman, first started as a hairdresser in a local salon near his home in East London. After a few years, he moved on to qualify as a barber and work in a barbershop in Central London. More recently, since relocating to Adelaide and managing a local Henley Beach barbershop, Grant is excited to have launched his very own shop in West Lakes’ new development, WEST.

Grant first got into barbering as he found that cutting hair wasn't simply just 'cutting hair'. It was getting to know his clients on a deeper level and developing the ability to make them feel as comfortable as they possibly could. Whether that be making some look good, feel confident within themselves, or simply just feeling that they have someone to talk to.

Ryan has been creating hairstyles for 20 years. Qualifying in South Africa and shortly after moved to London and furthered his career and became a trainer. Competitiveness is what’s allowed him multiple national and international awards.

Ryan believes his more passionate now than the first day he started. His greatest asset is his ability to be a positive influence to whom ever he meets. Moreover, his ability to connect to his clients allows confidence in a perfect execution every time.

I've never been to Chaps before but was definitely pleasently surprised.From the aesthetic of the shop, the vibe of the atmosphere, to the barbers the themselves. It's a big 5 star from me. - I had booked myself in to get a haircut from Samuel & hands down it was the best haircut I've gotten. Samuel was very detailed in his work and provided commentary on what he was doing while cutting my hair. Finding a barber who listens is very rare! so I will 100% be coming back to Samuel.

My teenage son has severe anxiety, ADHD and sensory issues and has always struggled with haircuts, has had a couple of poor experiences in the past too. I did some research and saw that Chaps offered a sensory friendly appointment so I booked it. The barber Dean was fabulous. Understanding, patient, kind and really made an effort to make my son feel comfortable. He went above and beyond, explained everything he was going to do in detail, checked in regularly and really listened to what my son said. It was an awesome experience. Cannot recommend these guys enough. My son keeps saying how happy he is and that he can’t wait to go back. It was so much more than just a haircut to us. Thank you Dean and Chaps. We will definitely be back.

The staff are very friendly and my barber, Keisha, is particularly good at giving me my favourite regular haircut. I also recently opted to try a new style, and with a lack of direction and information from me (because I was not exactly sure how to articulate the look), Keisha was able to provide me with options and give me the look exactly how I envisioned it.
